During the past month, the USMLE® program has shared detailed information about our expansion efforts to address the backlog of USMLE examinees who have been delayed in testing due to COVID-19. Below is an infographic that provides an overview of our plans.
All six regional testing centers are operational, and some have been testing students for four weeks. The USMLE program is now preparing for event testing at additional medical schools. In preparation for this, USMLE surveyed LCME- and COCA-accredited schools and examinees who are currently registered to take Step 1 or Step 2 CK to determine the level of interest in event-based testing.
We have reached out to eligible medical schools with logistical details and to confirm their continued availability and interest in participating in these test administration events. The planned administration dates of USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK include:
- Step 1: July 30th and August 13th
- Step 2 CK: August 27th and September 10th
While medical schools are deciding whether to participate, we encourage medical students to keep their existing Prometric appointments until details are finalized and they have been directly contacted by their schools and USMLE. Outreach to students about participating in these testing events will occur in July.
