On Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020 the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) Step 1 was administered for a second time at 38 medical schools across the United States to create additional testing opportunities for examinees. Many examinees have had test dates delayed due to state and local stay-at-home orders and social distancing guidelines necessitated by COVID-19.
This alternate delivery for USMLE is the result of months of planning, coordination and training between USMLE program staff and medical school representatives to achieve a shared goal of expanding testing opportunities.
Next, USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge will be administered at participating medical schools on Aug. 27 and Sept. 10, 2020.
Information and status updates about the testing events will be published on USMLE.org.
The USMLE program greatly appreciates the dedication of the participating medical schools. Their efforts have expanded testing options for medical students during the pandemic, helping to ensure these administrations run smoothly.
